Had a buddy crash the other day when one landed on his arm during a ride. Went to brush it off and took a spill. Remember they don't bite or sting and if one uses you as a landing pad while on a ride, just let it be and enjoy the company.

But they lay eggs and then limbs die and fall off.

Unfortunately won't get the cicada experience on the Eastern Shore. Just the regular annuals here, non of the large broods.

Can't remember a summer without them around here. I know this is an exceptional year for areas that don't have them yearly, but I can't imagine our hot summer nights being any louder than usual. I think I'm immune now. Actually, as an odd side note, my tinnitus is nearly the same pitch and sound.

Here in NoVA/DC, we get the annual "dog days" cicadas in August. You hear and see them, but not much different than other seasonal insects.

But, we also get several broods of the 17 year varieties. Those years vary from "that's a lot of bugs!" to "the apocalypse is nigh! Run for your life!"
