sad news to wake up to.

I noticed Gasman first cause of his avatar. Was a real positive influence here.
RIP mate.

Strikes close to home for me as a fellow physician (worked with anesthesiologists for >35 years). Also a fellow stroke survivor (also out of the blue, 2012). I always enjoyed his contributions here whether cycling-related or otherwise. I wish the best for his family.

f*ck. I rode with Dave alot when I lived in Eugene; our kids overlapped. This is so sad. I haven't been in touch as much over the past decade since leaving Eugene but Dave was a grea, great guy. This news really hits home. Thanks for sharing.

Oh man. Didn't have any real life interactions but have obviously seen him on this forum. This still hits home though. Odd isn't it how we may not meet or break bread and yet we become part of a tribe.

Gasman, keep the supple side down and say hi to Pete for us. Blessings to you and your fam, good sir.

His voice and advice was always soothing.
I’ll miss his presence as will many others closer.

Dave was a great guy, never interacted with him on this forum, but we butted heads on multiple climbing forums.

This makes me so terribly sad. He invited me to come down to Eugene several times and we had a lot of very nice conversations. He was an extremely kind and caring man; I sadly never got to meet him. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of this. Condolences to his family.

He helped on quite a few cardiology posts before I realized by his forum name that he worked in the medical field.

Super nice Super Helpful! Will be missed

Well put. Eventually, this thread will fade into obscurity. But he will live on in the memories of the people he impacted. A similar fate awaits all of us.

I will miss the friendly conversations we had over the years. He was always kind, fair, and level headed. One of the things I will probably miss the most is our friendly Duck/Beaver rivalry. The ribbing and jokes always made me smile.

When a position for a new mod was available I knew he would be a perfect fit. I’m glad he agreed to take the position on.

He touched a lot of people in a positive way over the years. Sorry to see him go but his was most certainly a life well lived.

A short from Dave’s wife…

Quote:
He was an amazing human being, a brilliant and respected doctor, a serious multi sport athlete, a world-class mountaineer and wilderness medicine specialist, an original Yosemite big-wall climber and Camp Four dirt bagger starting in the 1970s. He was a wonderful father and a devoted husband for 45 years.

RIP my friend

Is it poor taste to post his name so we can find his obit? It's clear so many of us held him in high regard.
