"Good Condition" ?
Offered for discussion:
This frame is listed as in "Good Condition". https://www.ebay.com/itm/296377571767 To me, this frame looks ridden hard and put away wet. Maybe solved with a new paint job, but there is significant rust IMO. Would you consider this good condition? My size, wonder what it will go for?

That is a possibly restorable “Fair” condition, possibly “Poor to fair”.

The obvious rust converter used is one thing, but some of those wounds on the stays look kinda deep... maybe just an optical illusion.

While the description as being in "good" condition is a bit (ahem) "generous", I also note that the seller started the bidding at quite the modest $0.99. The photos are all available to the bidders, and as it has already been bid up to $970 5 days before the auction end, it appears at least some people think it is in good enough condition.

Ah, eBay. The future (circa 1997).

Run, anyone that would describe this frame as "good condition" couldn't be trusted to even own what they are claiming to sell.

A little surprising coming from Piermont Bike, which is a legitimate shop with a long history, but on the other hand, there are more than enough pictures to make clear the state of the bike, so hopefully no buyer will feel misled.

Same thought…they’re an experienced bike seller, but they do accept returns. Who knows, as no way in hell would I classify the condition of that frame as “good”, but the market speaks for itself as the current bidding is at $1,325.

I bought a bike...
off the forum, was supposed to be good condition. The BB shell was not round but the packaging was fine.
I returend to sender and he was nice enough. I did not even try to screw a BB in it. Only time I have ever sent something back. Maybe 5 years later, I buy the same model of bike, different color, in excellent shape from the forum, Hampsten Strada Biancha, the nicest bike I have. |

Last year, I bought a Gunnar from ebay. The photos showed some rust, but not all of it. The bike was listed as refurbished by the owner, but the back wheel would hardly move. I contacted ebay and the buyer gave me a discount which I accepted.
I told the seller that it looked refurbished with a hammer and chisel! I put my components on it and love it. I touched up the rust spots, but fear they will reappear. Nothing like the Gunnar that you scored on Angry. |

Does not every RS frame symbolize the impermanent nature of life?
A steel mandala, created and then destroyed? |

It's all relative -- ie. amongst all steel framed bikes created the same year is this one considered as good, better or worse than average? I imagine there are a lot in landfills.
